Ladies do Dubai!

For those of you who follow me on Instagram and Snapchat,  you'll know that I recently got back from a fun-filled trip to Dubai with my friend Sian.

It's getting to the point where I'm starting to actually forget how many times I've visited this wonderful place! If I had my way I'd be living there by now! On the other hand, for Sian it was her first time in the UAE so I wanted to ensure she had a great time and experienced as much as possible in the short time we had there.  (note to self - book for longer next time!!)

We arrived about 7.00pm on Thursday evening and headed straight to our hotel in the Marina. After speed-unpacking, a quick shower and a quick hair and make up session we headed over to Pier 7 to 'The Scene'  for dinner.  I had forgotten how warm it still is during September in Dubai and had opted for a table outside on the terrace for the views, which incidentally are spectacular and overlook the Marina.  However, sweating was definitely an issue!! Nevertheless, we enjoyed it and the food was yummy! All I can say is thank God for Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation!!

Here are a few photos from that evening, apologies the quality isn't fantastic.  iPhone, darkness, a few drinks, you get the picture! haha

(Outfit details - Missguided Top / Zara Skirt / Christian Louboutin shoes / Saint Laurent Clutch)

We got a good night's sleep and headed down to the hotel pool for a couple of hours on Friday morning prior to getting ready for a much anticipated Brunch with the lovely Stacey (Expat Make Up Addict) and Laura (buynow/bloglater)

(My outfit details - Self-Portrait Dress, Chanel Bag and Christian Louboutin shoes)

We chose the Picnic Style Brunch at the Vida Downtown Hotel because  the food is great with something for everyone (more Pizza Laura?!) and of course, everything is sooo Instagramworthy! (something to definitely consider - of course!) Having said that I was having far too much fun and completely forgot to take pictures!

The original plan was to sit outside, thankfully though, Stacey suggested that this would be a terrible idea during the daytime and we moved our booking to a table indoors instead.  A good move! I think we would have melted outside in the daytime Dubai heat!

The bubbly started flowing, a belated Happy Birthday was sung (much to my embarrassment!), sunglasses were worn indoors (I'm not sure why!!!) and Brunch was definitely in full swing!

I'm not going to even try to explain this picture, but it's funny so I thought I'd include it!

After Brunch we headed across to The Palace for Sundowners and Shisha.  A beautiful setting and hotel and highly recommended.  A perfect place to watch the sun go down and listen to the fountains in the distance!

After going back to our hotel and a quick outfit change and refresh we headed over to meet some of Sian's friends at a bar called Mahiki at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.  Now I'm probably too old for this kinda establishment but I had a great time here and we partied until the early hours!

(Outfit details - Asos dress)

On Saturday afternoon we headed across to Mall of the Emirates for a bit of shopping, although I didn't buy a lot and was more interested in stuffing my face with a burger from Shake Shack! (sorry not sorry!) I did pick up a few bits of make up from Sephora though.

After a bit of R&R in our hotel room for a few hours we got ready to go and watch England v Wales rugby match at Barasti  Being Welsh, this was a particularly good evening for us! The atmosphere was fantastic and for a brief moment I felt proud to be Welsh (this doesn't happen a great deal!!)

Later on we went to the highly recommended roof top bar,  40 Kong (situated in the H Dubai Hotel).  An absolutely stunning venue with sensational views over the city.  Attention to detail here was second to none and I'm definitely going to go back next time I'm over there.

On Sunday, we were mostly tourists :)

Heading over to Dubai Mall we got tickets to go up to the top of the Burj Khalifa.  I've been up before but it was equally as mesmerising this time as it was the first time I went up.  You just can't comprehend how high up you are and the pictures really don't do it justice!

By this time the sun had started to set and we found a nice spot at Joe's Cafe at Dubai Mall to grab a coffee and watch the famous Dubai Fountain Show whilst the sun went down.  It was all very romantic!

For our last night I'd booked a table at the newly opened 'Marina Social' Restaurant in the InterContinental Dubai Marina Hotel and was suitably impressed with the choice! What a fantastic restaurant, it really was the perfect ending to our holiday.  The restaurant has a 'sharing' concept so the food is designed to be shared amongst the whole table.  We chose one of the set menus and it was more than enough food for the both of us (even with the smallest menu!!) I'll let some of the pictures I took speak for themselves...

To say our final farewell I took Sian to one of my favourite places in Dubai Marina, Shades at The Address   You get fantastic views of the Marina from here and it has a nice laid-back lounge vibe.  We stayed until it closed and then sauntered back to our hotel - not wanting to leave :(.

And that brings us to Monday, the day we had to say goodbye to sunny Dubai and travel to the airport to make our way back home.  :(

I'm already planning the next trip and I think Sian has caught the Dubai bug too! Such a fantastic place and if you're thinking about going just do it, I promise you that you won't be disappointed!  Yes, it's a bit expensive and some things are a little over-priced but it's a great experience and such a friendly and welcoming place with so much to do and see.

Before I go, a little plug for my Snapchat too! Stacey and Laura convinced me I need to start using my Snapchat in conjunction with my blog / social media so I've now started to be a little more vocal on there so come and follow me (and listen to my silly Welsh accent! haha!) my username is elisabethrilatt
